Our preparation process for kitchen cabinet restoration
- Label the doors. It is the first step, and it is the only way to avoid the confusion at reinstalling. If you don’t do it, you will have trouble determining which door goes with which opening. We work some times with more than 40 drawers and doors, so we take this seriously.
- Remove the hinges from the cabinets. We do this with the right tools to prevent any type of damages.
- Protect cabinets, floor, doors, and appliances. We cover everything, including stove, dishwasher, countertops, walls, ceiling, etc. with special paper, creating a plastic booth. In consequence, we isolate our work area and prevent the dust from sanding, or paint spreading everywhere.
- Surface preparation to ensure proper adhesion. First, we clean all the surfaces removing grease and grime. Second, we sand the cabinets drawer and door fronts to remove the existing sheen or sealant. This step allows the prime to adhere correctly to the surface.
- Check every cabinet looking for damages. We search meticulously for bumps or holes or surface irregularities and do all the minor repairs needed before adding new hardware to your cabinets.
- Paint your kitchen cabinets. On this step, we assure our working area is dust-free using a vacuum cleaner. Even, we use a special cloth called Tack Cloth to remove the smallest residue of dust. Then, we start painting!
- Reinstall all the doors and drawers. The last step includes aligning the doors and drawers and cleaning the working area so you can use your kitchen right away.
